Darkness.

The night was veiled within a cloak of darkness. The pitch-black shadows spread across the land
like a phamtom of death, an omen of ill...Overhead lay the unseen new moon.

It was a perfect world of darkness, where light is abandoned and alien to the lands.

So dark...so cold. Yet from the darkness, the loss of vision, came a strange reassurance...

Devils.

Right...no, left!

Christian ducked just in time as something barreled past him, the whoosh of air still there
behind his back. Holding his blade, Uprising, ready, he struck out at the the Akuma, drawing forth
a ear-splitting screech like nails being dragged across a blackboard.

Only a graze...Chris cursed, doubling over, using his great, steel sword for support. His breaths
were ragged and short, and his stigmata burned like fire across his back.

With a start, he felt the Akuma's Dark Matter creep up his leg. It felt like vines...poison ivy...or something
wiry like that. He couldn't make it out in the darkness. Cursing, he leapt up, breaking free of the Dark
Matter. Almost immediately he felt, no, he heard the breath of the Akuma on the back of his neck.
Throwing a leg back, he cursed as yet again his attack fell short of hitting.

Landing and stumbling, Christian cursed even more. His body was at its limits-it had always been since
he had invaded the Black Order. Hordes of Akuma pursued him every night, never giving rest, never
allowing him a moment of peace. Now, blinded in the night, battered by his multiple injuries and the scar
on his back crying out with pain for mercy's sakes...he could barely hold out against this Level 2. The eigth
one this night-EIGHTH one!!! They were on his trail alright...

His ears picked up something. A sound...a movement...

At the right instant he pounced just as the Level Two attacked. With a swing, he brought Uprising down upon
the Akuma, which shrieked in agony in response as the metal tore through its armor. Pulling his blade out,
Christian plunged it into its chest with a satisfying crunch. The akuma blew up in his face, showering him
with shards of Dark Matter...

Relief

Dawn came-it was a cold dawn, its pale white light spilling across the land. Christian winced as the morning
light met his eyes. Maybe he preferred the moonless night more.

Lying on the sparse savanna, his body had more or less repaired himself, except for the Stigmatas which
would take longer to heal. Coughing up a beautiful spray of red blood, Christian lay on the ground, waiting
for the agonising sensation on his back to ebb away...

It was a cold relief when sleep took over his eyes.

Kin Yasiga was sitting on the shoulder of a single level one akuma that had been acting as her personal taxi all night long. She had found herself following a ragged looking young man for the last couple of days. A large stigmata on his back and several other stigmata in various places identified him as the 'other noah.' The noah that had been created differently, without the ability to control akuma, and had escaped from Edo nearly three weeks ago. The Earl would be pleased with her for finding him again. But, what was the fun in simply bringing her battered brethren back? She would at least make a bit of sport with him before she brought him home. She had not really liked her 'other' brother, and she absolutely loved watching akuma fight, so an Idea had been born. She had been sending akuma at Christian in near constant waves since she had found him. She had finally stopped after sending one last akuma at him the night previously when it had become to dark to see the fight, and therefore defeating the purpose of entertaining her.

Now in the morning light, she had been waiting for her 'entertainment' to wake up once more so she could pit him against a new akuma. But, after waking up just long enough to spatter the grass with crimson blood, he had gone back to sleep. "Lazy nii-san." She muttered, sliding down the rounded side of the level one akuma and landing on the ground below beside him. "Wake up!" She yelled, aiming a kick at his side, still in human form. "It's no fun to watch you die if you're asleep, nii-san!"

"Mmmpgh." Christian groaned as the kick collided with his gut. "Five more minutes, mom. Five more
minutes..." With his eyes closed and still on the ground, he rolled back and grabbed Uprising, throwing
it tiwards the direction of the Levvel One and impaling it directly in its core. It exploded in a mass of
dark matter, the soul destroyed along with it.

Kin stuck out her tongue at Christian as the akuma was destroyed. "That's not nice, Nii-san. Just because you're jealous that you can't control akuma isn't a good reason to break my things." She trilled, skipping airily a few steps away. The action looked innocent and child like enough, but her real intention was to put a bit of distance between herself and Christian. She had never accelled at close ranged fighting, and he seemed to be in a bad mood. "It's time for you to come back home. If you don't, Earl-sama is going to be very angry at you." She spoke with a sing-song voice.

"Tell him to can it, Kin." Christian groaned, ruffling his hair irritably as he got up. "I'm
not a dog that he can call back at will like you and the others."

"After all, what can i do if i'm back there? Waste time lingering in my cell again? No thank
you to that. Heaven knows how long he's going to cage me up this time."

Smiling gently at his 'sister', Chris headed towards her, plucking out his sword from the
dead Akuma by the way.. "It reminds me, this is the first time I've actually seen you in a
few good months. How's it going, watashi kawaii imouto?"

Kin looked offended. "No, you come back and tell him yourself! He'd be mad at me if I told him you said that, Nii-san. Always trying to get me into trouble... Why can't you just be nice, ne?" She asked playfully. She shot him a sly smile as he stated his reasons for not wanting to go back. "That's not so bad! Besides, you found the exorcists, didn't you? That's why your so messed up. Tyki-nii-sama tracked you to their headquarters. The Earl-sama would be happy with you for that, ne? And he might let you go, ne?" She spoke cunningly. As he picked up his sword, she grinned at him. "How stupid you are. Are you actually thinking that you can escape in your condition? You can't beat me like that, so don't even act like you have a choice about this." She ended with a snarl. She wanted him to come back, so she would make him come back, it was as simple as that.

<Blood Control>

Red strands slashed the ground near where Kin was standing, leaving slash marks
in the ground. "There are skills that are stronger the more hurt I am."Christian grinned,
loosening the collar of his white shirt.
